Hortus Botanicus

Always wanted to walk through the African desert, the tropical jungle or a South-African forest? And all in one day? The Three Climate Greenhouse in the Hortus Botanicus makes it possible. The Hortus was founded in 1638 and that makes it one of the oldest botanical gardens of the world. Don’t forget to also visit the butterfly greenhouse and the palm-house with a 300-year-old giant cycad, a specialty of the Hortus. In summertime the outside garden is full of flowers and you can enjoy the beautiful terrace of the Orangery.

Plant doctor

Every Wednesday afternoon the plant doctor is present to answer all your plant related questions. You can even bring your sick plants in for a consult!

Be creative and draw!

Does all the natural beauty of the botanical garden inspire you to get creative? By paying an extra euro ( € 1,-) you can draw the flowers and plants to your heart’s content. This way you can take home some of the magnificence.
