Our favorite spots for a first date in Amsterdam

Tinder, Happn, Innercircle, Lexa.. Who isn’t using a dating app nowadays? Getting a date has never been so easy! Just sit and relax while you are swiping and chatting away and with one push on the button super liking this special someone. After a fairly nerdy or flashy oneliner you both can decide if you share the same interests, if you have mutual friends and if he or she is really that hot as on the picture.

Once you have decided that the person on the other side of the screen is worth the trouble then comes the next step; going on a first date!

Usually women wait for men to ask them on a date but in 2018 it is not unusual that a girl takes the initiative and comes op with a spectaculair date.

Often things like having a drink or dinner occur which is fun of course but very innovative.. not really. That’s why we decided to lend you a hand and create a list with activities which will leave a lasting impression on your date!

Boom Chicago Amsterdam

Boom Chicago | First date in Amsterdam

Humor is very important in a relationship, laughing together creates a special connection. It’s a good thing to see on your first date if you share the same humor and if he/she laughs because you are so irresistibly funny.

At Boom Chicago you will be entertained by a group of international actors and comedians. They perform here daily and all the shows are in English. Expect fast sketches, stand-up comedy and crazy improvisations that will guarantee you a good night full of laughter.

If you are still enjoying each others company after the show; the bar is open until the vibe is good.

Be careful were you sit though. The six seats right in front of the podium can be treacherous as sitting here automatically makes you part of the show. Do you always laugh the loudest at your own jokes? Then this is definitely the spot for you!
The comfortable sofas somewhat further back might provide you a better spot to snuggle up to your new sweety, but remember you are never really safe for jokes flying around. So better to concur the fear of being made fun off and embrace this super interactive comedy show by showing your date you can confidently counter anything coming your way!

Tip: make a reservation at least 2 days before a show because they usually sell out quite quickly!

Paradiso

Paradiso | First date in Amsterdam

At the Leidseplein you find Paradiso, an attraction for young and old with the aim to provide a place for creative talent. It functions as poppodium, club and place where creative people can showcase their creations.

We find it a nice place where good artists come and we can show our moves on the dance floor!

Do you and your date both love music? Then check out the shows at Paradiso which feature all kinds of musical genres. Whilst listening and dancing there is no need for an all night conversation so this makes Paradiso place for your first date.

Usually a concert starts around eight and when it’s finished the doors open again for a club night. This leaves the option to go out to dinner and skip the show and still go dancing together.

The Foodhallen

Foodhallen 7x een goed idee | First date in Amsterdam

The Foodhallen is an indoor food market concept inspired by the Torvehallerne in Copenhagen, the Mercado de San Miguel in Madrid and the Borough Market in London.
A cosy informal place for a drink and a bite to eat. You can choose from many different cuisines and depending on how much fun your date is, you can effortlessly switch from just a drink with a bite to a full dinner.

Tasty burgers can be found at The Butcher (although charmingly eating this without grease dripping from your mouth maybe impossible), vega bites at the Green Brothers and a delicious pizza at Pink Flamingo.. . or just all! We also lover the cocktails of the special Gin bar!
