Gay Pride

Every year in the summer, the city of Amsterdam turns pink for one week. Its gay pride, baby! Actually, Gay Pride is not just pink, all colours of the rainbow are represented and it really is one of the most positive festivals around. Tolerance and solidarity are the main themes, celebrated in an extravagant and together way by lesbian, gays, transgender, bisexuals and straight people.

Canal Parade

One of the most popular events of Gay Pride is of course the famous Canal Parade. You can expect around 80 boots filled with extravagant men and women celebrating the freedom to express who you are and who you love. The parade usually starts somewhere around 2 PM at the beginning of the Prinsengracht at the Westerdok harbour. The parade crosses the entire centre of the city and ends at the Easterdok.

Party Party!

Besides the Canal Parade there are parties everywhere, but especially around the gay streets of Amsterdam, like the Reguliersdwarsstraat. All the main events and parties take place in the centre of Amsterdam.
