The Lapjesmarkt or Fabric Market is held every Monday morning from 9 until 13 hours in the beautiful and picturesque Jordaan area. This market has been here for years and is always crowded with locals. A lot of Dutch people from all over the country even travel to Amsterdam on Monday mornings especially for this market.

You’ll be able to find every fabric or textile you can imagine in over 160 stalls on the Fabric Market. Whether you want to redecorate your house and need new curtains or you are making your own clothes, everything you need for your projects can be bought here. And all for a very good price! Besides textiles, there are also stalls selling cosmetics, clothes, shoes and even fresh fruit and vegetables.
The best apple pie of Amsterdam
A visit to the Fabric Market is not complete without a cup of coffee on one of the many terraces surrounding the market. If you have time, do stand in line for Winkel 43 where they make the best apple pie of Amsterdam (See photo above). And for those who love vintage clothing, don’t forget to visit the special vintage market that you’ll find on the Noordermarkt, right next to the Fabric Market.
