Amsterdam Marathon

Every year on the third Sunday in October athletes from around the world travel to the Netherlands to run the beautiful and fast course of the Amsterdam Marathon that starts and finishes in the historical Olympic Stadium. The first Amsterdam Marathon was run on August 5th in 1928 during the Olympic Summer Games that were held in the city. In the years after, different runs were organized, but it wasn’t until 1975 that the official Amsterdam Marathon was organized again.

It doesn’t have to be 42K’s

If running a 42K marathon is a bit too much for you, you can also choose to run the half marathon or an 8k run. For children up to 12 years there is even a special kids run. All runs take you through the most beautiful parts of Amsterdam, like the area around the Rijksmuseum, the Vondelpark and the Amstel river.

Pasta Party and Good Morning City Run

Because preparation is everything, a special Pasta Party is held the day before the marathon so that all athletes can enjoy a delicious pasta meal that gives them all the energy they need. In 2014 the first Good Morning City Run will be organized: a 6.5k run that takes you to all the beautiful canals and historic buildings of Amsterdam. A perfect way to explore the city whilst training for the Marathon the next day.
