Right next to the Slotervaartbad (swimming pool of the Slotervaart district), the West Beach Film Festival is held every year. During four weekends in September this free open air film festival shows everything from art-house films to Hollywood blockbusters. Similar to that other free open air film festival Pluk de Nacht, the West Beach Film Festival is a free festival and it is all about enjoying a good movie with your friends during the last warm nights of the year.

Film academy
Every night starts around eight o’clock with short movies from film students, followed by the main movie around nine. Because there is only a limited amount of chairs available it is advised to be on time. And you don’t have to check the weather forecast: in case of rain or heavy wind the West Beach Film Festival is moved indoors, into the foyer of the Slotervaart swimming pool.
