When thinking of Holland, windmills, traditional costumes and wooden clogs come to mind, most of which are only to be found as souvenirs in the capitol. When you want to experience these things in real life, you can explore the Greater Amsterdam with the Zaanse Schans, Volendam and Marken Tour. Leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind for a couple of hours and drive through picture-perfect landscapes, crisscrossed with canals, wooden houses, windmills and fishing villages!

Craftsmen in action
The Netherlands of the olden days is still visible in the picturesque village of Zaanse Schans, taking you back to the 17th and 18th century. Here you’ll meet a shoemaker who stills crafts the wooden clogs by hand, visiting windmills and a historic shipyard on the way. Then you travel to the world-renowned fishing villages of Volendam and Marken where its inhabitants still wear traditional clothing and live in old wooden houses that are built on stilts. During the summertime you have the option to take a 20-minute boat trip on the IJsselmeer (the former Zuiderzee or Southern Sea) to watch the villages from the water at no extra cost. To complement the experience you will also visit a traditional cheese making farm.
