In 1928 the Olympic Summer Games were held in Amsterdam. For this, the Olympic Stadium was build and on May 17th 1928 the stadium hosted its first official event: the opening of the Olympic hockey tournament. Since 1928, the stadium has been the number one location for sports related events in Amsterdam. For instance, the national soccer team of the Netherlands has played over 77 games in the stadium. If you would like to learn more about the history of the Olympic Stadium Amsterdam and of sports in Amsterdam, a visit to the Olympic Experience is highly recommended.
